I Hope They Never Catch Those Cows
You escaped from hell, the abattoir, the killing room. You made a break for it a gap in the door. Now you’re running through downtown streets and the sky is racing above you, clouds and sun you’ve never seen before, shining making your brown eyes golden rolling with the excitement and confusion the sounds of your hooves on concrete echoes ricocheting like bullets from doorways and between the cars that you bump into your heart is bumping too your breath misty snorts your large head turning looking at your sisters running with you hardly believing what is happening people are standing on the edge of the streets like cheerleaders singing clapping waving their arms rooting for your quest urging you to freedom forgetting that yesterday they were or tomorrow they will be stuffing their faces with steaks hamburgers ribs chops hot dogs filling their coffees with stolen milk so you keep on running and I hope they never catch you
