On The Roof
In a rooftop garden
broken mis-matched chairs
a spring sun blurs my eyes
Brighter than the summer
butter white -
.
I look at the potted plants
succulents and cactus
and imposter dandelions
whose flowers liken the sun
.
I look at Buddhist flags
tattered and torn rags
colours faded into the sky
waving silent prayers
.
to a private congregation
- square buildings
one of them rises higher
a red spire gets sooner to
God
.
points to an aeroplane
its noise offset by silence
its colour by storm clouds
.
I look at my companions
- two angels.
.
