And as this artist talked to us I looked at his paintings and thought to myself they were some of the worst I’d ever seen. And like most artists he had an inflated sense of his own talent and a whole bunch of pretensions of being Michelangelo or Sorolla. He’d painted this great big potato he said it was a microcosm of the universe. I guess he had a point there I mean Buddhists talk about the entire universe being contained in the top of a cup, don’t they? he tells us we don’t really see colours it’s light reflecting - and I’m thinking I fucking learned that in high school.
