Unholy Rain

A thousand rocks
fell on us in a day
hell stones
for six days
thunder wasn’t far behind.

I saw
the body of a child
broken, hanging from what’s left
of my neighbour’s house.

Is that confetti
falling after the rain?
a million pieces
one for each of us
to clutch to our hearts
as we run run run.
