We paid a fiver, me and an Australian guy I’d met in a pub pissed, to this dodgy looking geezer for a fake pass to get in and it had been raining for 3 days non stop the kind of rain that makes you wonder where it all comes from clouds that stretch up to infinity a layer of cement across the sky. The rain was coming down like cold needles we’d drank all the bottles of whiskey and smoked all our cheap weed we’d lost our boots somewhere in the swamp we were walking about like barefoot Aborigines sober Bob Dylan playing the main stage my back was fucking hurting we hadn’t sat down in three days, chairs were like little white plastic oasis in a mud desert, with queues longer than for the toilets. We’d drank all the whiskey and smoked all the weed luckily we bumped into a hippy hanging about in a field next to some standing stones he sold us a couple of acid tabs said they were vintage and told us to have a good trip man so we took them and swam to the main stage and Bob Dylan came on and the acid came on and my feet were stuck in the mud I felt like a primordial creature emerging from the ground Bob Dylan struck a chord on his guitar some golden notes like tears of angels. A crack appeared in the concrete sky and ray of pure sun came straight down like a bolt onto Bob Dylan the first light in three days. A miracle. Me and my Aussie mate looked at each other and we laughed like fucking madmen.
